Telehealth Consent

What telehealth means here

Telehealth is healthcare delivered when you and your clinician are not in the same room — at NovaHealth, that means secure messaging, phone calls, and video visits. Your clinician may use the information you share, your health history, and anything you show on camera to evaluate, diagnose, and treat you, including sending prescriptions to your pharmacy and ordering labs when appropriate.

Benefits, and honest limits

The benefits are the reason we built this: quick access to a clinician who knows you, from wherever you are in Texas, without travel or waiting rooms. The limits deserve equal honesty:

• Your clinician cannot examine you with their hands. Some conditions can't be safely evaluated or treated remotely, and your clinician will tell you when that's the case and direct you to in-person care.
• Technology can fail — a call can drop, video can freeze. If that happens mid-visit, we'll reconnect or reschedule promptly.
• In rare cases, delays or gaps in the information available remotely could affect clinical judgment, as they can in any care setting.
• Despite strong encryption and safeguards, no electronic system is perfectly immune to security failure.

Never for emergencies

Telehealth is not for emergencies. If you are experiencing a medical emergency — chest pain, difficulty breathing, signs of stroke, thoughts of harming yourself or others, or anything that feels life-threatening — call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. Do not wait for a message reply.

Where you must be

Our clinicians are licensed in Texas, and telehealth law turns on where you physically are at the time of your visit. You agree to be physically located in Texas during visits and to tell us if that changes.

Prescriptions

Prescribing is always your clinician's judgment, made within Texas and federal law. Consenting to telehealth is not a promise that any particular medication will be prescribed, and NovaHealth is not a fit for care focused on controlled substances.

Privacy and recordings

Your visits and messages are encrypted and protected by HIPAA, as described in our Privacy Policy. We do not record video or phone visits, and we ask that you don't either — if a recording is ever clinically useful, it happens only with everyone's explicit agreement. Choose a private space for visits; what's around you is part of your privacy too.

Your rights

• You may ask questions about telehealth at any time, before or during care.
• You may decline or stop a telehealth visit at any point and ask about in-person alternatives.
• You may withdraw this consent at any time by telling us in writing — it won't affect care you've already received.

What checking the box means

By checking the agreement box during signup, you confirm that you have read and understood this consent, that you accept the benefits and limits described above, that you will be physically located in Texas during visits, and that you understand telehealth is never a substitute for emergency care.
